| How
Do I List My Boat? |
| |
You
can list your Boat by navigating to the category where you want your boat
listed, and then choosing the Post

Note:
Not all categories allow items to be listed directly within them.
Only those categories that allow listings to be added have an Post
an Ad link.
Once
you choose the correct category for your boat, simply follow all
the onscreen instructions to add your boat. All options that have
an associated charge will note that charge when you choose it. Use the
Help
links if you are confused by any options.
Once

presented with a preview screen where you can review all of the information
you have entered and options you have chosen. Use the Back button to go
back and make any necessary changes. Do not press the Finish button
until you are absolutely sure that all of the information is correct.

| Beware
of Fraudulent Online Activity |
| |
|
|
| SELLER
SCAMS |
|
| Although
we strive to verify the identity of everyone who advertises on our
site, fraudulent sellers may some times appear. Fraud sellers hope
to lure you into doing business with them. |
| |
|
|
| To
avoid Seller scams, pay attention to the following clues: |
|
- Seller asks
you to send a deposit or payment via Western Union or other wire
transfer methods.
- A price
that is too low or too good to be true.
- A seller's
phone number is out of service or rings to a fax machine.
- A seller's
address is not verifiable.
- Beware of
international sellers.
- A seller
offers free shipping
- A seller
doesn't want to discuss over the phone, but only wants to communicate
by e-mail.
- A seller
insists you use an escrow service you don't know.
- A seller
is unwilling to show you proof of ownership (title, VIN number,
registration)
- A seller
who cannot provide you unique identification of the vehicle (non-ad
photos, photos of actual VIN number on frame, etc.)
|
| |
|
|
| |
THE
LATEST SELLER FRAUD |
| A recent
escrow.com spoof site has been created. Sellers may try to persuade
buyers into handling transactions through this site using a
wire transfer. The difference is the account used is to "secure
and verify" the funds. The fraudulent seller emails are
sent from "transactions@escrow.com" to upload a virus
onto your pc. From there the virus transfers you to the escow.com
spoof site. |
|
| |
|
|
| |
|
|
| BUYER
SCAMS |
|
| Fraudsters
sometimes pose as buyers interested in your vessel for sale. They
may try to pass you bad checks or overpay you and ask you to refund
the difference. Here is the most important point: |
| |
|
|
| Most
fraud buyers use counterfeit cashier’s checks and the bank has
30 days to verify the check. |
| |
|
|
| Do
not assume that because the bank has cashed the check for you, it
is a legitimate check. After the bank has paid you the money, the
bank has 30 days to determine if the check is valid or not. The bank
will come after you if they discover the check/money order is counterfeit.
You will be expected to pay the funds back to the bank. |

Important **** |
| Never
Buy a Boat Sight Unseen. ALWAYS go and Inspect the

a Professional Marine Surveyor to perform a Survey
Inspection. |
